A patient complaints of fever, weakness, sweating, chest pain, short wind, cough with sputum (mucous and purulent). Laboratory test showed: a high level of ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate), neutrophilic leukocytosis with left upper shift (the proportion of immature neutrophils increases due to proliferation), elevation of monocytes and decrease of lymphocytes. To confirm the inflammatory process, the diagnosis of “acute phase proteins” was assigned.
