Turgor pressure is the intracellular pressure resulting from osmotic differences between the cell content and the extracellular fluid. The pressure exerted by the osmotic flow of water is called turgidity. In other words, osmotic flow of water through a semipermeable membrane is when the water travels from an area with a low-solute concentration, to one with a higher-solute concentration. The role of turgor pressure in biological processes is important for growth and normal functioning in living organisms. What kind of mechanism in cell is responsible for turgor?
Donnan membrane
equilibrium
plasmolysis
hemolysis
